About DTG Testing
Who are we?
DTG Testing Limited was setup by the Digital Television Group to carry out interoperability testing on behalf of the digital TV receiver industry.
Why?
The Objectives of the Test Centre are:
- To enable broadcasters to broadcast to a well-characterised set of receivers that meet the requirements for interoperability and do not inhibit service development.
- To assist receiver manufacturers develop products against better-qualified specifications
- To provide receiver developers with the tools that they require to test prototypes
- To improve interoperability of receivers in an open and horizontal market place and move towards a conformance test set.
- To assist in identifying areas of specification that are ambiguous or not adequately covered by the specifying documentation
- To share the risks and costs associated with this work.
What do we do?
The areas within the UK DTT interoperability specification for which test methodologies have been developed include:
- MHEG API testing
- Common Interface testing
- SI and PSI signaling operations, including EPG
- Audio and video testing, including AFDs
- Subtitle and audio description stream testing
In addition to the development of test materials, DTG Testing undertakes the management of the Engineering Channel, the facility whereby manufacturers can upgrade the software in their products by means of an over-air delivery method. Further details on the Engineering Channel.
As part of the DTG's Interoperability Initiative, DTG Testing makes available it's resource of over 50 different DTT receivers for application testing so as to ensure that broadcast applications produce the desired experience for viewers whilst not presenting any risks to the normal operation of receivers.
Where are we?
The Company test facilities are located at the DTG offices in Vauxhall, London
The site is close to Vauxhall railway and underground stations.
