Pace targets Asia-Pac with new box
Pace Micro Technology is launching a new set-top box that it describes as "tailor-made" for the needs of the Asia-Pacific digital TV market. The device is intended to provide "an advanced but low-cost set-top box solution" for the region's broadcasters.
The new box, the Dx235, employs Pace's common hardware platform, which can be flexibly configured at the front end for cable or satellite as well as operator-specific software and applications. The company claims the design is "ideal for digital TV broadcasters and operators who are seeking a cost-effective yet proven and rapid route to market".
Features include a multi-lingual electronic programme guide (EPG) and RCA phono outputs to enable hi-fi system and AV amplifier connectivity, permitting integration into a home-audio or theatre system. The box is compatible with all major conditional access systems, including Conax, Irdeto, Mediaguard, NDS, Nagravision and Viaccess.
Sandy Barblett, Pace's new regional director for Asia Pacific comments: "Operators today want to come to market with a set-top box that delivers the services their customers want at a price that encourages rapid take-up."
